Corel, Longer than planned
Running late for a party, more details tomorrow.
Edit.
I am planning on submitting this picture for the Newborn competition in the next day or two after a slight touchup.
In the mean time I’m running the first of my competitions.
The person who posts the best, most fitting or humorous explanation of the S.T.O.R.K acronym will win a signed limited edition A4 print of the final image.
I reserve the right to choose at my own discretion,
my decision will be final.
The image will be posted to the winner wherever they may be,
be sure to provide a name.
Competition closes Thursday the 30th at midday Brisbane time.
entries to go into the comments section of this image please.
good luck.

Yes it is cheating a little. It did take ages to make one I liked tho.
However it is for a good cause
and it will give me a chance to get a few things finished
to my satisfaction.
Have a great day.

Aranoptera horribilis
This lucky hatchling was provided with two mice in its cocoon by its mother.
It has grown up big and strong.
-Kill it kill it with Fire.
more info on Maralinga
Super sculpey over foil and wire, spray painted grey. hours and hours.
Tis right frustrating how the imperfections show up when spray painted grey.
When painted properly this will be another entry for the Newborn competition.

corel pencil, marker and gauche. 5 hours on and off.

Arch Nemesis of Captain brass . Sgt. Sebastion the stringent was once a fine and upstanding member of Her majesties royal peace keeping service. He and the crew of his gunship the HMAS Elinor went AWOL when he was sentanced too be dismantlement for performing unorthorized capital punishment upon three young women(for respectively: Conspiracy to cause an affray, Scandalous display of ankle and Sedition) .
His Obsessive hunt for Captain Brass continues, the cause of the obsession is unknown, but may simply be the raft of unpaid parking fines associated with Captain Brass’s ship the Black Bertha.
He and his crew are a problematic case as they are not pirates as such, rather they terrorize the skies meeting out vicious and disproportionate punishment for the slightest traffic and vehicular infractions. They have however had a more significant effect upon the safety of the airways (other than those unfortunate vessels that are, for whatever reason, judged unairworthy) than any other initiative attempted in recent memory.

Edit- Updated and reworked the image slightly. Worked it into a cover which was submitted for the competition.
The first part of my cover for
this. Illuminated titles and spine may follow. In the attempted style of
medieval illuminated texts such as the
Aberdeen Bestiary from which I believe the below picture of a crocodile is taken.
edit:
hmm seems some colour did not transfer to jpeg that well, will remedy this.
Corel, 3+ hours. Comments as always are welcome.
I love that the description of this beast -as it was described to the artist- was obviously equally as bazaar and outlandish as the mythological beasts also included within the book.
—
Terratrema draco
Little is known of this extraordinary creature, spotted and tracked for only a day in the Sahara last year. Prominent theories suggest the organism could set off tremors when swimming (no other word adequately describes it) through stone, as it did too escape the tracking helicopters.
Is it possible that earthquakes can really be attributed a biological organism? The very idea has geologists, biologists and cryptozooligists the world over in uproar.
—
I had been seeing these remarkable dragons poping up all over the place, starting with Robin Chyo’s amazing example at
gorilla artfare, then yesterday I found
this page of examples on i09. Last night I envisioned the beast having seen
this very real extraordinary creature and this morning when I finally found
the source was gratified that no other artist had attempted a similar creature.
Unfortunately the competition is closed now, this beast did not truly meet the
brief of a quadruped winged dragon anyway.
However as a biologist, I point out that no terrestrial organisms other than arthropods have a six limbed body plan. I speculate that unless it’s origins are extraterrestrial or inter dimensional even gargantuafauna will adhere to common evolutionary morphologies.
Corel, mostly acrylic. 6 hours plus. In truth I could easily spend another day on the sand alone, but that is the point of this exercise: To learn when and how to finish creations.
In other news:
Although I still feel like I may have one to many Y chromosomes for it you can follow me on Twitter

Run,
No really Run now
it has 10,000 siblings in hiding nearby.
Corel, half an hour,
Made after an abortive 4 hour attempt at using corel impasto brushes to create a relief sculpture painting.
